Founded in 1948, Ameropa is a Swiss private capital company with international exposure on the agricultural market. It produces and markets fertilizers and cereals and is part of the agricultural distribution chain whose objective is to provide food for the world's population.

The company’s headquarter is located in Binningen, Switzerland, near Basel, with regional offices on all five continents. Presently Ameropa has offices, branches or assets in 31 countries worldwide.

Azomures recently concluded contracts for the purchase of natural gas, which allow the resumption
of fertilizer production at 50% of the total capacity of the factory, starting in October 2023. The
purchase of natural gas was made despite the continuous challenges we see in the structure local
energy markets, as well as the additional charges that have just been announced, which will certainly
increase our costs.

Ameropa is pleased to announce the successful completion of the full refinancing of its main Revolving Credit Facility (RCF) in Romania. This achievement comes in the midst of a complex and challenging business landscape, highlighting the ongoing confidence and commitment of our partners to Ameropa’s businesses.

Fertilizers Europe welcomes the outcome of today's European Parliament debate and the decision of the European Commission to put forward an EU Fertilizer strategy to ensure European strategic autonomy, to stimulate domestic fertilizer industry's green growth, promote economic stability for European farmers and food security for the whole society.

After almost 5 years of activity in Azomures, Harri Kiiski resigned from the position of General Manager, for personal reasons. Harri Kiiski ensured the management of the company during an unprecedented period in the history of Azomures, during the Covid pandemic and, more recently, during the ongoing energy crisis.

The energy crisis at the European level causes the management of Azomureș, the only producer of agricultural fertilizers in Romania, to adopt a new set of measures to reduce activities on the production platform for the coming months.

The European gas market has risen sharply. In recent days, prices have risen from 80 Euro Mwh to 125 - 130 Euro Mwh. The explosion of a liquefied gas (LNG) export terminal in the United States, problems in the gas transmission chain and massive gas storage operations for the winter season 2022 - 2023 have again led to a price increase.

OPEN DOORS DAY is an event that is part of the actions dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Azomureș platform, national and regional leader in the fertilizer industry for agriculture.

4 months have passed since the difficult decision to temporarily stop the fertilizer production, on December 17th 2021, in the context of natural gas market volatility. At the time, the natural gas market was hitting record high levels which made the production of affordable fertilizers impossible, not only for Azomures but also for many other EU factories that stopped in the same period.

Thanks to the generosity of our colleagues in Switzerland and Romania, together with the contributions of Ameropa Marketing & Sales AG (AMS) and the Ameropa Foundation, 180,000 CHF will be used to help families who have suffered as a result of the war in Ukraine.

The European Commission has recently adopted an economic support package, aimed directly at farmers and energy-intensive companies, such as the fertilizer industry.

Azomures, in partnership with Profitul Agricol magazine, organized on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, a round table on "Food security and the implications of the war in Ukraine for Romania and Europe".

Azomures continues its commitment to safety. Azomures as part of Fertilizer Europe’s audited Product Stewardship program extends its audited safety management system to include ISO 45001 standard.

Since December 6 when Azomures made an initial announcement of the preparation to shut down production, the price of natural gas in Romania has continued to significantly increase. For comparison, on December 6, the price for gas delivered in January was 90 Euro / MWh, on December 15, the price for gas delivered in January was 132 Euro / MWh.

Azomures Targu Mures, the most important producer of fertilizers for the Romanian agriculture and industrial usage in Romania, informs that it is facing an exceptional situation due to the very high prices for energy, natural gas and electricity. This marks the beginning of preparations for the temporary shutdown of production activities.

During the event "Energy in the socket" organized in Bucharest by the newspaper Bursa, the general manager of Azomureș, Harri Kiiski presented some of the solutions identified for reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, in the context of the Green Deal program of the European Commission.

The internal commission that investigated the cause of the technical damage on July 7, 2021 from one of the ammonia production facilities on the Azomures platform completed the first stage of the report.

The Azomureș investigation team, together with the authorities of IGSU Bucharest, ISU Mureș, Mureș Environmental Guard, APM Mureș, IPJ Mureș and ITM Mureș, confirms that
today's event was generated by the transfer of a portion under the weld of a pipeline.

The situation on the Azomureș platform stabilized shortly after an incident occurred during the night. The company has begun an internal investigation.

Azomureș concludes the partial technical revision of the installations, part of the multi-annual investment program.

European Commission Executive Vice-President, Frans Timmermans spoke today with Azomureș CEO, Harri Kiiski about the challenges of the Green Deal agreement for the European agricultural fertilizer industry.

Azomures Targu Mureș, the most important producer of fertilizers for agriculture in Romania, will start at the beginning of June a new technical overhaul of the installations on the production platform.

Azomures Targu Mures, the most important producer of fertilizers for agriculture in Romania, started the collaboration with the Romanian Royal Family Collection Foundation and the Association for the Royal Heritage Peles (APRP) in order to support landscaping projects in the fields owned by the Royal Family of Romania.

Azomure and General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, in partnership with the Department for Emergency Situations, presented today the latest informative material with regards to safe storage and use of fertilizers for agriculture.

Company has prepared this first material in order to inform local community about activity performed on Azomures platform, about the risks that may arise in an emergency situation and about measures that can be taken by citizens in such cases. It is a brochure form and is made in partnership with the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations "Horea" of Mures County.

Azomures will carry out between 12 January and 15 December 2021 the project - Increasing the energy efficiency of engines under the Azomures plan for energy efficiency and climate change - SMIS code: RO-ENERGY-0022, supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, through EEA GRANT Norway 2014-2021, within the Innovation Norway program, the value of the grant being 601,000 Euro.

Azomures signed with E.ON Energie Romania a contract for the turnkey delivery of a new power plant that will use as raw material the residual steam generated by the plant's activity. The new power plant will generate 5% of the annual electricity consumption of the industrial platform and will reduce the energy costs of Azomures by 4%.

​"Nitrogen fertilizer plant" was the name under which current Azomures company was established on December 1, 1962. The foundations of one of the most modern hemical platforms were then laid, which soon became one of the largest fertilizer exporters in Romania.

​Azomures presented to the authorities responsible for monitoring the platform the conclusions of the most recent noise study carried out in Targu Mures, in the northwestern part of the city.

​Azomures recently completed the series of meetings it had with public figures who registered for the election race for Târgu Mureș City Hall and who accepted the management's invitation.

​The announcement was made during the Romanian CSR Awards gala, held online due to restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic.

​Azomureș maintains its certification in the field of Responsible Product Management/Product Stewardship.

​Azomures announces the completion of the works under the partial technical turnaround and the begining of the process of restarting the installations, implicitly the resumption of fertilizer production to normal capacities.

​Azomures contributes financially to the purchase of a complete equipment for carrying out the tests of detection of the new cases of Coronavirus.

​In the context of the decisions announced by the Romanian authorities regarding the preventive measures in case of Coronavirus infections, Azomures has taken a series of additional measures, specific to the company's activity.

​Azomures will begin annual turnaround from 1st of March 2020. Originating from the negative effects of the Government’s Ordinance no. 114/2018 the natural gas price and availability has not been favourable for sustaining operation.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr, Adrian Nechita Oros, visited the Azomureș Plant, the most important producer of agricultural fertilizers in Romania. He was acompanied on this visit also by the Prefect in the Mureș County, Mrs. Mara Togănel.

Azomures today announces that Mr. Harri Kiiski is appointed as CEO at Azomures, Targu Mures and that Mr. Mihai Anitei will take on the new role of Ameropa Country Manager, based at Ameropa Romania Services SRL in Bucharest. Both appointments are effective 01.01.2020.

The fertilizer production facilities for agriculture entered the planned shutdown program (general review) at the end of May 2019, in order to carry out the planned maintenance work.
