    - building a treatment plant for waters contaminated with ammonia and ammonium nitrate
    RESULTS:

    - reduction by over 55% of the amount of nitrate ions discharged in the Mures river

    - compliance of the nitrate and nitrate ions concentrations with the imposed limits

    - re-use of de-mineralized water

    Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) destruction installation on Nitric Acid 2, 3 and 4 (2003,2004) plants

    – reducing nitrogen oxide emissions into the atmosphere in order to comply with legally admitted limits

    RESULTS

    - residual gas discharges with nitrogen oxide concentrations several times lower than the legally admitted limits

    Modernization of the ammonium nitrate plant (2003)

    Value of investment: - 7.7 mil. €

    OBJECTIVES

    – reducing the amount of dust discharged into the atmosphere and of specific consumption

    RESULTS

    – reducing by half the amount of dust discharged into the atmosphere from granulation towers
    – significant reduction of specific consumptions.

    Modernization of the installations of the recycled water cooling towers (2001)

    Value of investment: - 6.8 mil. €

    OBJECTIVES

    - modernizing 22 cells from all cooling towers

    RESULTS

    - improved cooling water process, with a positive effect on pollutant emissions in the environment

    - increased efficiency of the cooling water process and reduction of electric energy consumption

    Continuous automated monitoring of the quality of wastewaters discharged in the Mures river (2001)

    Value of investment: - 1 mil. €

    OBJECTIVES

    - controlling sources of pollutant emissions in the surface waters and compliance of their concentrations with the imposed limits.

    RESULTS

    - reducing to the minimum the pollutant concentrations in discharged waters and permanent compliance with the imposed limits.
